Peppermint is a medicinal and spice plant from the mint genus.

Peppermint stimulates the flow of bile and the production of bile juice, has an antispasmodic effect on gastrointestinal complaints, and is antimicrobial and antiviral. It is therefore used successfully for bile complaints (including mild biliary colic) and "spoilt stomach". The essential oil is also used for rubbing in migraines, headaches and nerve pain, as well as for inhaling during colds; here, as with all strong-smelling essential oils, the following applies: Caution with infants and small children.
